I hope that many of our friends, clients, family members and past co-workers can join us on Saturday January 29th for the retirement of our two Bettys. Thats right. The DolMor is loosing two fabulous team members on that day. My mom, Betty Engelhardt, will retire after 60 years as a hairstylist. Un-be-lievable!! She and my dad Flory were the proud co-owners of the DolMor Salon for 40 years. And Betty Potz-Kelly has been our director of customer relations for over 20 years. Wow…who could have known that our client, turned employee would be with us for so long. Thank you both. Our Bettys have evolved within the industry…from the advent of the ‘cold wave’ and finger waves and skip waves…to blowdryers and precision cutting. From pencil and paper and one in-coming line….to computer booking, call-backs and debit transactions. These two girls have been a part of it all. Please join us for an ‘open house’ celebration in their honour, from 2-4pm’ish’ on Saturday Jan. 29th. We will have a very brief formal presentation at 3pm. Light refreshments will be served. Best Wishes on please.

This is a fabulous new styling tool, and it has just arrived at the salon. I call it the ‘left handed curling iron’..as it is just as easy to use if you are left handed, OR right handed. The iron has an incredible swivel action….so you don’t have to twist and twirl your wrist to make the barrel turn. It has a ‘NanoIonic’ mineral infused barrel, dual heaters, cool-touch grip and digital temperature controls up to 440 degrees F. The infared technology styles hair from the inside out…allowing for quick styling without breakage and leaves the hair smooth and silky feeling. Our “I Give a Goat” fundraiser for Tumaini House in USA River, Tanzania was a huge success. Wow….what a night! Approximately 100 guests enjoyed Tia McGraff and Tommy’s music. We were the first people to hear the cuts from their new CD “Diversity”. It is absolutely fabulous…please check it out. Cherie Szucs and Steve spoke to us about the orphanage and the plans for a future school and a sustainable home for the children. We were treated to cheese from Simcoe’s Jensen’s Cheese, and dilectable treats from the Bellworth House. Oh…and the wine (how could I forget)…thank you DolMor! Thank you to the guests who donated $3000 that evening to Tumaini House. Please look up the website tuchifo.com for more information about this organization and what you can do to help. Finally, thank you to our DolMor staff who were such wonderful hosts and hostesses and made everyone so welcome.

Learn about the successes, and the goals for this venture…and see what YOU can do to help make a difference in their lives. $25 per person at the door (all proceeds to Tumaini House…and you’ll get a tax receipt too)!! Music, Food, Fellowship….on a Monday Night!!! Hey, ya can’t go wrong with that! Hope to see you here. L
I am so proud of our staff and clients. During the month of April, we were challenged to raise funds for the North American organization ‘Child Help’. After some brainstorming, we decided to offer our clients conditioning treatmens with a wonderful scalp massage (all $$ directly to Child Help), we baked…and had a daily bake sale, and we participated in weekly dress-down days. By the end of the month, we had collected over $1400.00 to donate. Well worth the effort. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.
Last Tuesday evening, in the SCS Cosmetology room, we participated in the first ‘New Day, New Me’ event. Spearheaded by our local cancer support associaton, this evening was geared to women who are living with cancer. These women have been relatively recently diagnosed…and are seeking answers to issues that surround them…with respect to the skin care, make-up needs, hair replacement needs and breast prosthesis issues. Local experts (which included myself…Lisa…and my sister Brendalee and my mom Betty), together with an energetic bunch from Clark’s PharmaSave, treated the women to make-overs. We also answered questions regarding wigs, false eyebrowns and eyelashes, moisturizers—to name a few. We had a great evening with our guests, who were then treated to dinner at ‘The Blue Elephant’ compliments of the generous Baldock family who direct the “George’s Night Out” program. For more information on “New Day, New Me” or “George’s Night Out”…please contact the Cancer Support & Resource Centre at 426-0219.
That’s one of my favourite songs by ‘Chicago’
