We’ve made an effort to ‘go green’ by participating in Norfolk County’s lighting retro-fit program. Today…all of the bulbs in the DolMor Salon, Eden Day Spa and My Top Drawer were changed to more energy efficient bulbs. Every little bit helps. Next…we need to ship all of our hair clippings to that BP oil spill. Reduce, Re-use, Recylce.

I am so proud of our staff and clients. During the month of April, we were challenged to raise funds for the North American organization ‘Child Help’. After some brainstorming, we decided to offer our clients conditioning treatmens with a wonderful scalp massage (all $$ directly to Child Help), we baked…and had a daily bake sale, and we participated in weekly dress-down days. By the end of the month, we had collected over $1400.00 to donate. Well worth the effort. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.

We have advanced tickets available at the DolMor Salon, and in My Top Drawer. This is a fun event geared toward women (obviously!!) that will include displays, demonstrations, fashion shows and expert advice. Ticket price is $20 in advance ($25 at the door) and this includes a gourmet meal prepared by the Belworth House. I think this is going to be a really great night. Grab a girlfriend or two…and plan to attend. It is located at the “Aud” on South Drive, and runs from 3-9 pm. The DolMor Salon, My Top Drawer and Eden Esthetics and Day Spa will be there, along with many of our local associates. See you there!!!

Last Tuesday evening, in the SCS Cosmetology room, we participated in the first ‘New Day, New Me’ event. Spearheaded by our local cancer support associaton, this evening was geared to women who are living with cancer. These women have been relatively recently diagnosed…and are seeking answers to issues that surround them…with respect to the skin care, make-up needs, hair replacement needs and breast prosthesis issues. Local experts (which included myself…Lisa…and my sister Brendalee and my mom Betty), together with an energetic bunch from Clark’s PharmaSave, treated the women to make-overs. We also answered questions regarding wigs, false eyebrowns and eyelashes, moisturizers—to name a few. We had a great evening with our guests, who were then treated to dinner at ’The Blue Elephant’ compliments of the generous Baldock family who direct the “George’s Night Out” program. For more information on “New Day, New Me” or “George’s Night Out”…please contact the Cancer Support & Resource Centre at 426-0219.

Several of the DolMor staff attended Canada’s largest and most exciting hair show at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto. As always, it was a day packed full of excellent education, stunning stage shows, and deomonstrations of the latest and greatest new hair and salon products. This year, we had to leave a few hours early so that we could get to a TV set to watch the Gold Medal Hockey Game! We don’t often leave a hair show early…but it sure was worth it to see our Canadian Boys win the Gold!!!

The entire DolMor team has been busy learning, re-training, and updating. Just the other week, we have had an in-salon traing session with Eufora International’s Elite team member, Andrew. And the following week, our entire team travelled to the Metro Academy in Toronto for another day of updating and advanced training. We’re motiviated…and ready to create a great new look for you this spring.
